The seventh cohort of the skills training has finally started at the Guabuliga Vocational Training Centre. In all, twenty (20) energetic female trainees are taking part in the programme. This highly impactful training is scheduled to run for 12 months. Madam Sally Sahada, a native of Guabuliga is the master trainer. She brings on board fifteen (15) years of experience in dressmaking. The trainees are very excited about the opportunity to learn and they hope to redefine sector opportunity after completion. The training will push them to newer economic heights; lifting them and their families out of poverty.
It should be noted that dressmaking was part of the first cohort of skills training at the training centre. Seven (7) females and five (5) males were trained. This programme was reintroduced following a popular demand from the community. Fourty-five (45) trainees applied for this programme. However, only twenty (20) of them could be admitted due to resource constraints and also for strategic reasons.
