School education as the key to a better future

84% of school-age children in Ghana attend school. However, only 7% of pupils in the third grade of primary school can read! We are committed to inclusive, equitable and high-quality education in underprivileged villages in northern Ghana.

Every child should have the same opportunity to receive an education and develop their full potential. Education enables economic advancement, democratic participation and a self-determined life.

Education with impact

In 2023, the Ghanaian government stepped up its efforts to make school attendance free for all children, thereby enabling compulsory schooling for all. However, there are many problems, such as a shortage of furniture, a lack of textbooks and insufficient staff. Schools in northern Ghana are particularly affected by all these challenges.

BRAVEAURORA therefore supports five schools in the communities of Guabuliga and Sagadugu and supports particularly talented students with scholarships.

The BRAVEAURORA education programme is not limited to providing access to education, but goes even further to promote transparency and accountability in the use of educational resources. This is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4, which aims to ensure inclusive, equitable and high-quality education.

SUCCESS STORY
From orphan to IT expert

Masahudu had to overcome great challenges to realise his dream of becoming an IT expert. Born into a family of six and deprived of his father at an early age, Masahudu faced significant setbacks from the outset. However, his unwavering commitment to education led him on an inspiring journey.

‘BRAVEAURORA was like a guiding light that I could always hold on to and that supported me.’ As a former orphan, he received full support from BRAVEAURORA, from kindergarten to university. He was already a very good student in primary school and junior high school and was eventually accepted into senior high school. Thanks to the support of BRAVEAUORA and Masahudu's fighting spirit, he passed his school-leaving exams with flying colours. His outstanding achievements enabled him to study computer science at the university in Tamale – his absolute dream. Today, Masahudu has a degree in computer science. In our increasingly connected world, IT skills are essential, and Masahudu recognised this early on. He worked tirelessly to acquire the necessary skills. His success story impressively demonstrates how valuable commitment and the promotion of potential can be and proves that BRAVEAURORA's investment in children is more than worthwhile.
