Girls-Empowerment Club

Social workers of Braveaurora believe that the youth are the future generation so they need to be guided in some of the decisions they take and given much attention. In view of this, we came up with an idea of setting up a Girls Empowerment club. The reason for targeting the females was because they are the vulnerable in society.
The main purpose of the club is to Empower the Young Female. Guide them to take their own decision and stand up for themselves when the need arises and where to turn to in times of difficulties. They should be able to live their life’s without fear and to teach them to say “No” in risky situations. They will also be ambassadors to their peers, the youth sometimes listens to theirs peers more or they easily get influence by them, the girls will help carry the information out to their friends and family.

We starting with 20 girls from the Guabuliga Junior High School and we stilling working with the same number. Their ages ranges from 14 to 17 years. We meet once in every quarter and we have met 4 times already. Our activities include; Education (we educate them on their rights and responsibilities, the agencies they can contact when they are in need, we discuss personal issues some times, how to stand up for their rights also invite influential people to have a talk with them), football match, Quiz, Drama and many others. We make our activities as fun as possible so the girls play and learn at the same time. Our slogan is “sister sister”.
